1. What is the most important concept you learned this semester? Explain the concept briefly and discuss why it is important.
2. From all the new knowledge you gained in this class, choose 2 facts or ideas that make the biggest impression on you. Explain.
3. What 3 skills will you take from this class, and how will you use them in the future?
-My new advanced handy-dandy Internet searching skillz will allow for more in depth research in the future, both in collage, as well as in my career path.
-Getting my ideas out into the world will be a whole lot easier with my BRAND NEW CAR!!! ...
I mean, my knowledge of social networking/ bookmarking such as Diigo , and how people on the web find the information (Tags , Other People Promoting It ect... ect...)
-Before the course I had no idea how many places there where to publish your information. Blogs , Youtube , Forums, Linked in Tweets, and on, and on.... The possibilities of where to publish are nearly limitless, and the formats in which to publish them are almost as abundant.
4. Look at the 4 global competencies (objectives) for the course. Which objective do you feel you developed to the greatest degree?
What did you learn about that objective, how did you learn it, and why does it matter in the world?
-I would like to think that I developed my skillz of Communicating Ideas. For the most part I have not very many Ideas that would be worth communicating, but If one ever comes up, I will know what to do :D
-Through the work we did in class while learning about global leadership, I picked up on a lot of the different ways that information was spread through out the world. All of the ways that people compile, publish, and spread
5. What does it mean to be a global leader in the 21st century?
-To be a leader in any century one must first understand the century, then one can lead effectively. If someone has no idea about what the people of the century respond to, are looking for, and are passionate about, they have no right to lead.
-Now someone who gets the people knows how to lead them because he can look into himself and find the answer he would want. Though I am not in support of President Barack Obama, I must commend him for seeing a valuable resource in the Internet , and using it where his opponents were not. Pres. Obama knew how todays society was linked to the Internet, and he harnessed its power.
-In the future I wish to attend seminary, and become a priest . In dong this I feel my knowledge of the workings of the Internet are almost essential in modern Church life. To be able to access a vast archive of information via the Internet, being able to contact people across nations, organizing events with people across the globe, now that is an amazing thing.
-But it seems that the older generations today are afraid of the Internet. The media seems to portray the Internet as being a place for pedophiles to trick kids into giving them there address, instead of a tool that if used properly can lead to the spread of knowledge that would otherwise be limited to regions.
